Public Announcement

The following clarifications are being provided in response to claims that were made by Michael Matsuda on the website Monkeykungfu.com and elsewhere. I would like to thank the students and fans of mine who brought these matters to my attention.

“Matsuda is one of the two leading authorities on the art of Monkey Kung Fu”
“We will be offering a certification series for those who can’t make the Monkey Kung Fu classes.”
“Master Paulie Zink has now passed on the entire system of Monkey and Pek Kwar to his student and close friend, Master Michael Matsuda.”
“There are only two places that are fully certified by Master Paulie Zink to teach Monkey Kung Fu. Both are taught by Master Michael Matsuda.”

1) To my knowledge, Grandmaster Chan Sau Chung and my teacher Master Cho Chat Ling are the only two senior leading authorities on the art of Monkey Kung Fu.

2) I never gave Michael Matsuda my permission to offer certification for Monkey (Tai Shing) Pek Kwar Kung Fu.

3) I never taught the entire system of Monkey and Pek Kwar Kung Fu to Michael Matsuda. I have never taught the entire system of any art transmitted to me by my master to any student. I have never appointed any student as complete successor to me. However, I do have students to whom I have taught more Kung Fu forms than I taught to Michael Matsuda. In my opinion, these students are exceedingly more skillful at Kung Fu than Matsuda is.

4) I have several students who have had my approval for many years to teach Monkey Pek Kwar Kung Fu.

I have also just discovered there was an addition made in the text of the fourth printing of the book “The History of Monkey Kung Fu” by Paulie Zink and Michael Matsuda that reads in regard to Tai Shing Pek Kwar: “Master Paulie Zink then passed on the entire art form to his protege, Michael Matsuda”, page 117. Michael Matsuda was never my protege. He made these false claims in the book without my knowledge or approval.

Michael Matsuda has been the most disrespectful student to me that I have ever taught. I want it known that I have dissolved my affiliation with the U.S. Tai Shing Pek Kwar Association (which was created by Michael Matsuda). I have dissolved my personal friendship with Michael Matsuda. I have expelled Michael Matsuda as my student and revoked the honorary title of Master that I bestowed to him.
